The average woman puts 515 chemicals on her body every single day.
And that’s just what goes on top of the skin….. it doesn’t even include the amount of chemicals we put in our mouths every day.
This past year I have become exceedingly more health conscious in a variety of ways. It started with my nutrition. I wanted to lose weight, so I started eating clean. Along the way, I learned about all of the toxins I had been accumulating over my lifetime and how they were just sitting in my fat cells… rude! So I detoxified my body. Then, I learned that, yes, what you put in your mouth is so so important, but also that what you put on your skin is equally important.
The picture below contains every single product I used on my skin or put in my mouth before 9 am this morning.
First, I started with a shower, where I shampooed & conditioned my hair, exfoliated & shaved my legs, and washed my body & face. Once I got out of the shower I moisturized my face and legs, brushed my teeth, and put on deodorant. I shot back a probiotic, made a protein shake, and drank an energy drink. Then, last but not least, I put on a little makeup… just the basics: foundation, concealer, blush, mascara, eye shadow, and lipstick. All of this happened within an hour, and within that hour I had used 22 products on myself.
Thankfully, all of the products I used on myself this morning are clean, but they weren’t always that way. Before I became toxin-conscious, I was using all of the same types of products (shampoos, lotions, toothpastes, makeup, etc…), but they were filled with parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, alcohols, chemical fragrances & dyes, animal by-products, other synthetic materials… you name it. And my body hated me for it.
Myself and all of siblings have severe allergies to most sunscreens and a host of other things that go on our skin.. I once used a Covergirl mascara from Walmart that made my entire eyelid swell up. My regular razor brand, Venus, changed up the ingredients on the little moisture strip last year, and I had a rash on my legs for months before I figured out what was causing it. I’ve had severe sunburns from lathering on Neutrogena sunscreen that I was (unknowingly) ALLERGIC to. It was so bad that I think I would have just been better off just not wearing sunscreen at all!! My poor little sister has it even worse. 😦
But now that I am educated on the ingredients in my products, I do better.
Did you know that European countries have banned over 1400 toxic chemicals from entering their products???
Wanna guess how many the U.S. has banned?
14. We’ve only banned FOURTEEN of those FOURTEEN HUNDRED toxic chemicals from our products!!!!!!
It’s no wonder my skin hated me for using FDA approved products… I used to think “FDA approved” meant something was safe, but the FDA standards are crap, y’all. Nobody needs that kind of toxic build up in their bodies, but especially people like me who have such sensitive skin.
SOOOOOOO….. needless to say, I’m thankful I was introduced to a company that produces in the U.S., but follows the European standards for product formulation.
Here are some resources to help you discover what’s in your products, and how they could be affecting your body.

As for food… you’re better off just eating things that are as close to the way God made them as possible. Meats without steroids, antibiotics, or hormones, homegrown or organic fruits and veggies, etc.
