At what age did you stop dreaming and start thinking realistically about your life? When we are young we are told to dream big and reach for the sky. We are told that we can accomplish anything if we set our minds to it. Somewhere along the line, though, they stopped telling us that. Instead, they told us to think about our lives realistically. It’s no secret that in the adult world the concept of “realistic” is really just making sure your pocket book matches your life plans. You trade your time for money, and your money for things. This is what we have to look forward to in adulthood. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy.
But what if I don’t want to do that? What if I want to be a fabulous wife, a rockstar mom, and a total boss babe? Because I do. I really really do.
My #1 dream has always been to be a stay at home mom to a whole slew of kiddos. I know the value of a stay at home mom because I had one growing up, and she was (still is) a ROCKSTAR!
Alongside that dream, I have another dream to be foster parents. I have this vision of a big house out in the country with like 10 bedrooms, where we will love on kids for as little or as long as they are placed with us.
I dream of a life where my husband can pursue a passion over a paycheck.
I dream of a life where we are able to give freely of our time and money.
I dream of a life where we can send ourselves on mission trips all over the world.
I dream of a life where I am so filled with positivity, encouragement, empowerment, and love that I have no choice but to spill that over into others’ lives.
I dream of an incredibly abundant life that is not limited by my pocket book, other’s opinions, or my own fears.
But HOW???? How in the world can anybody EVER live a life like this??? It’s just not realistic.
But I’m here to tell you that IT IS!
Step 1: Decide
Decide that you are done living a life constrained by your fears and finances. Decide that no matter what you WILL achieve your dreams. Decide to get out of your comfort zone. Decide to change. Decide to not give up.
Step 2: Make A Plan
Dreams don’t work unless you do, so make a plan. It may take years to accomplish your dreams, but if you have a crystal clear picture of how to make it there, you will. Your plan needs to be detailed and specific. Set dates by which you will accomplish the mini dreams that lead you to the big dream.
Step 3: Do It Daily
Now that you have a big picture plan, you need to establish what daily steps you need to take to get you there. It may be writing your goals down every night and praying over them. It may be writing down what you’re thankful for every single day. It may be saving x amount of money every day to go towards your dream. Identify what DAILY steps you need to take, and be consistent!
Step 4: Get Into Personal Growth
Getting into personal growth is sooooooo crucial to achieving your dreams. If your dreams are huge and scary, you will not be able to achieve them by staying exactly the way you are now. Growth is essential to movement. Making personal growth a daily priority will allow you to make leaps and bounds towards your dreams instead of small shuffles.
Step 5: Pray over it!
If your dream is a God-sized dream, as it should be, then there is absolutely no way you can reach it without putting it in His hands. If you’re praying about it, God is working on it. Pray with confidence, and be SPECIFIC. God doesn’t answer vague prayers.
” Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
I hope and pray that my words can encourage and inspire even just one person to stop living blindly and to start living 100% ON PURPOSE. Life is short. Stop making excuses for yourself, and choose to live abundantly.
